Updated pictures, comments, and getting ready to ship out

Three things:

1. We’ve added some pictures to the student blog posts again. Here, here, and here for example.

2. Max Holmes, the director of the project who is sadly stayed behind in the USA this year, is diligently moderating comments that folks send in about the blog posts. Please read and comment.

3. If the weather cooperates, we’ll be moving locations from Cherskiy to a site called Duvannyi Yar with amazing permafrost exposure and megafaunal remains that is several hours of steaming upriver. Look here for last year’s pictures. We’ll be gone for three days on this trip and will have limited access to internet and blog updates on this trip. But, we’ll do our best to keep in touch.

The recent updates to the 2009 Student Bios wherein their respective projects are described serve as great reference points/frameworks to the specific experiments delineated in their blog posts. Thanks–it helps complete the picture for us here at home. We greatly appreciate any and all info/stories/pics you have to share. It is almost mind-blowing to imagine all the hypotheses, sample collecting, and tests taking place on that barge, not to mention the significance of the work as well. And speaking of pictures, as I did earlier, the new shots of the 2009 team are superb!
